Meet Stephen Horst

Voice and communication coach helping performers, professionals, and creatives speak with clarity under pressure.

Stephen Horst has performed on Broadway, appeared on Netflix, and worked with a #1 Billboard songwriter, recording artist, and multi-platinum producer in the music industry.

But beyond the credits, his work has always centered around one thing: Helping people stop forcing performance and start communicating with honesty, presence, and trust.

Stephen was drawn to performance from an early age.
As a kid, he would imitate anything he heard — especially one of his favorites, Michael Jackson.

He spent hours singing alone in his room, studying vocals, expression, emotion, and performance. That curiosity eventually became a lifelong craft.

Stephen graduated with highest honors from the University of Colorado Boulder with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Theatre, where he also studied vocal pedagogy.

Soon after, he worked as the lead pop singer aboard the MS Maasdam.

Stephen then made his Broadway debut in The Phantom of the Opera at age 24:

He later performed leading roles across the United States, including:

-Burrs in The Wild Party
-John in Miss Saigon
-Enjolras in Les Misérables
-and understudied two lead roles in the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind

Watch Stephen perform “Bui Doi” from Miss Saigon live on stage.

Film, Television & Voice Work

In addition to live theatre, Stephen worked extensively in film and television.

He appeared in SAG-AFTRA productions, a web series pilot, and can be seen on Netflix in Luke Cage. He also advanced to producers for series regular roles on both HBO and Cinemax projects.

Alongside acting, Stephen worked in:

voice-over
print
commercial
corporate
and industrial performance work

Each experience deepened his understanding of communication under pressure — both on-camera and off.

Songwriting & Creative Development

One of Stephen’s most meaningful creative chapters was songwriting.

He began writing, producing, and performing his own music, which eventually led to working with a #1 Billboard recording artist, songwriter, and multi-platinum producer.

During that time, he sang on more than 100 demos while continuing to study the connection between voice, emotion, performance, and identity.

The Work Today

Now in a new chapter of life as a husband and father of two, Stephen focuses on helping performers, professionals, and creatives reconnect to a more natural, grounded, and trustworthy voice.

Through coaching in voice, communication, performance psychology, and presence — along with his Dads Bourbon Club series — he helps people move beyond technique alone.

The goal is not simply to sound better.
It’s to become someone more connected, clear, and honest within the work.

Terra

Singer/Songwriter/Musical Theatre

"When I began training, I was stuck in a rut of singing big and loud.
Stephen's TIYA approach helped me realize the difference between working hard and working smart.

His vocal technique allowed me to find more consistency in my upper range and unlocked my ability to use different dynamics, agility, emotion, and vocal colors throughout my voice.

Now I am booking often and getting big callbacks for very interesting roles because I am more complete singer/actor.

LAWRENCE STREET

"Stephen has been training my voice and mentoring my songwriting over 2 years now via Skype lessons from Budapest, Paris, and L.A.

Thanks to him I booked my first a cappella group, and I'm about to finish writing and producing my first EP!"
